Home Run for the Community: Plumas Lake Little League Secures Field Lease

10/5/2025

After years of making do with borrowed fields, Plumas Lake Little League is finally getting a place to call home. Yuba County has agreed to lease nearly 15 acres of land to the league for 20 years at just $1 per year, marking a turning point for youth baseball in this growing community.

For the league's 500 athletes across 37 teams, the struggle has been real. Without their own facility, teams have relied on public parks where they can't mow grass, must remove fences after every game, and sometimes face water shutoffs during the fall season. The first-come, first-served nature of public spaces has created scheduling conflicts with other programs.

The ambitious $1 million project will feature two ball fields, a parking lot, and even a community dog park. While the league has raised approximately $100,000 through sponsors and donations, they're calling on the community to help bridge the gap.

Vice President Steven Dobbs and President Anthony Troxell are optimistic about volunteer support from local construction professionals willing to donate time and expertise. With architectural designs underway, the league hopes to break ground within the next year.

For Plumas Lake's young athletes, this means more than just convenience—it's about creating a true home-field advantage, hosting All-Star games under the lights, and building lasting memories in their own community.
